my story

A woman’s true beauty resides in who she is and what she stands for. Her makeup, hair and accessories tell an important part of that story and it's the one I’m passionate about.

Since an early age, I have followed the designers of unique beauty. Their creations for young or old, slender or not so slim, tall or portly have found expression in bold makeup, clothing and accessories that are sometimes playful but always authentic. That too is what I strive for in my work.

My apprenticeship has followed a long road through university, a corporate career, City and Guilds exams for ceramic restoration, and ultimately a Professional Advanced Makeup and Hair Styling qualification from the Alicia Buckle School of Makeup, Airbrush and Hair Styling. My lash stylist training was completed at the internationally acclaimed Ms Diva Training Academy in Ireland.

Extensive travel to interesting destinations such as the high Himalayas, India, Europe, UK, USA, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Turkey, Singapore and Africa has provided a wealth of human understanding. Texture, taste, colour and the aesthetics of that which is beautiful and meaningful is embedded in the person I choose to be. 

By birth I am Isabella Susanna, by close association Zell, by marriage Dean and by residence a foodie living in Stellenbosch. Frida Kahlo is my artistic icon and  Rae Morris my Make up super star. Charlie the Miniature Schnauzer I share with my husband Ian and our family and special friends provide the lighter moments in a really crazy world. Gardening, running, film and regular Pilates classes with a growing interest in mountain biking fill in the important healthy life style gaps.

My makeup style has been described as timeless and classic with a touch of romance and colour well suited to person and occasion. I have an eye for detail and am unashamedly a perfectionist. I believe in service excellence with a personal touch
